| Steps To Reproduce | 1. Downloaded COMET.DAT from www.minorplanetcenter.org/iau/MPCORB.html to ~/Library/Application Support/skychart/MPB 2. In CdC, select menu item Setup/Solar System/Comet. Here I find that the 'General Settings' tab is not populated. Select 'Load MPC File' tab and bounce back to 'General Settings' and it is now populated. 3. Go to 'Load MPC File' tab a select 'use local file'. Locate file and click on 'load file' button. No messages appear in 'Messages:'. 4. Go to Calendar/Comet and there are no comets available. | ||||

I do exactly as you describe on a Mac 10.8 using the last 3.7 beta and it work for me. The last message say 221 comets loaded. You should use www.minorplanetcenter.net instead of www.minorplanetcenter.org but this is not important in this case as the comet file link to the .net site. The file I download is http://www.minorplanetcenter.net/iau/MPCORB/CometEls.txt My preferred download URL is http://www.minorplanetcenter.net/iau/Ephemerides/Comets/Soft00Cmt.txt but it look the file is the same. The General setting display problem is also fixed with this last version. Can you try again after installing the beta 2304 or more recent. |
