| Summary | 0001102: Save image options | ||||
| Description | I am not sure if the following have been asked before but, a)is it possible to save an image (a chart) directly as a pdf file in colour or black and white and b)is it possible to save an image (a chart) of a specific field of view (in degrees and minutes) in circular form (as it is viewed in binoculars or a telescope)? | ||||

a) No, the save image function is only a screenshot of the current display in raster format. The Print function allow to save higher resolution map in raster or vector format. To get a pdf you can select Postscript in the Printer setup menu, then convert the .ps file to pdf using ps2pdf or any of the graphical interface for Ghostscript that are available for Windows. Another option is to install a "print to pdf" software and select this printer. Or on Windows you also have the choice to print to a .wps file and convert this file to pdf. b) No but you can print the eyepiece circle you select with the fov you want in "Setup/Display/Finder circle". We normally prefer to see the environment around the eyepiece. But I can add an option to hide the map outside of the wider mark. Do is such an option what you search for? |

b) I think it would be useful to have a printout of a specific field of view as it appears on the eyepiece when drawing a deep sky object or a comet in order to avoid having to draw the stars. So hiding the map outside the wider mark could be useful. |

Revision 2680 add an option to mask the chart outside of the eyepiece. http://sourceforge.net/p/skychart/code/2680/ The option is selectable from the chart right click menu, Finder circles / Eyepiece vision. But it is active only if the current chart FOV is about the same scale as the wider eyepiece FOV. It is possible but not required to combine with a plot of the center mark. |
