| Summary | 0000428: Encoder Telescope Device Polling Command String "R" and "I" | ||||
| Description | The telescope encoder intialization sends a string "R+02000<tab>+02000<cr>" for a setup using two 2000 tick/rev encoders. The Mirco Guider manual for the MG5 states the string should be "R02000<tab>02000<cr>". Is sending the "+"'s an error? Also, the encoder intialitizaiton sends a string "I+01000<tab>+01000<cr>" and expects a response. This is not in the MG5 manual. What does the "I" command do to the encoder device and what is the responce back to the PC needed? I am guessing the "I" string resets the encoder counts? | ||||

The encoder driver was done for the Ouranos device, not the MG. Later I was told the MG use the same protocol so I add "Ouranos MicroGuider" to the model selection. But if there is such difference it is better to add a new model. Is the MG manual available online ? The I command is used to initialize to encoder count on the Ouranos. |

Sorry but I cannot fix that without a device on hand. The best is probably to use the ASCOM driver with the Intelliscope plugin. The MG5 is listed among the supported devices. See: http://www.unm.edu/~eschman/Intelliscope%20Driver5.htm |
