Summary0000514: cannot access GSC catalog
DescriptionIn the configuration of catalogs, I use the browser and follow the path until I reach the GSC catalog and when I want to select it, the line appears in red. The same problem appears with the development version. May be I did something wrong. However I was able to make it work with version 3.0.1.2.

Hi Patrick,

Just to make sure, did you install the HST GSC catalog? You can find more information about installing the catalogs at
http://www.ap-i.net/skychart/en/documentation/installation_of_extra_catalogs
I hope this may help you, anyway, good luck!

High all
Thank your Marc for your note. I am sorry for my very late answer. Actually it took me some time until I could progress. Yes I did install the HST GSC catalog (precisely the GSC_ACT). Now it works with my Linux machine when I launch the program as root (and only under that condition). I suspect that the difficulties I encountered were related to permissions I did not manage correctly. However the reason that makes it work is not clear to me.

I realized recently that the issue is still open. But, as I mentioned in my 09-05-31 note, the problem can be considered as solved provided that we assign the correct permissions to the folders and files. Sorry for my inappropriate alert.

Thank you to for the confirmation.
I let the problem open because I want to be sure there is not a real problem with the need permission, running as root is not a solution for me :)

So let this problem as solved if you have added read permission for your user account but please reopen if you need to add write permission for the GCS files or directories.
