| Summary | 0000528: Cache of downloaded DSS FITS images | ||||
| Description | It would be really handy to be able to download a FITS image from say, ESO, and have Ciel save it in a local cache of images. My dark sky site has no Internet connection, so the temporary image is gone once I have to restart the program. A possible problem is that this cache could grow quite large. Perhaps a least-recently-used policy would be good, once the space occupied got beyond a limit. Or, let user explicitly save images. | ||||

yeah I agree it would be very handy to build a local database of DSS FITS so you don't have to keep downloading them over and over again. when I take my computer out to the dark site there is no internet. I submitted a request of this a while back # 0000455 |

Revision 2490 add this feature: http://sourceforge.net/p/skychart/code/2490 This will be available with the April 15 3.9 beta version tomorrow: http://www.ap-i.net/skychart/en/development_version Look at the menu Setup/Pictures , DSS and "Image archive" tabs. Activate the download archive in DSS tab. After you download a few picture return to "Image archive", click the first column to make it green, press the "Scan archives" button, check the box "show the images on the map". Now the picture are automatically displayed every time there is one available for the current fov. If the performance is too bad with many images you can reduce "Maximum number of image to show simultaneously" to 1 which must give the same result as with a single download as before. |
