Just for general info, I uninstalled 3.1 1232 and did a clean install with skychart-3.1-1233. It still will not scan the SAC fits folder.

Are you sure you select the folder just under SAC and not the SAC folder itself?

For example if the fits files are in C:\Pictures\SAC\ngcxxxx.fit you must enter C:\Pictures before to click the Scan button.

Also check the database setting is correct. Open Setup / System / System and click the Check button.

Hi Patrick,

I double-checked the fits file path and also ran the system check, both of which were fine. I can still only add a single fits file from the Background tab and can't get it to scan the entire folder from the Objects tab.

updated to: skychart-3.1-1433

I just checked it, works fine for me with Linux64+32 bit and win32, but there is an other problem: If I select a folder that does not contain a subfolder I get an access violation.

oilman: sometimes it takes some time until the progress bar moves, so maybe you could try to wait a little.

I correct the access violation with revision 1462.

I also add more information to the trace file about this process.

oilman can you try with tomorrow snapshot, it will be skychart-3.1-1462

then send me the file cdc_trace.txt located in the user data directory
( see http://www.ap-i.net/skychart/en/documentation/directories_and_files)

Are the fits files in J:\SAC_FITS\ ?
In this case put just J:\ in the directory field.

It's working perfectly now, scans all the fits files and no access violations!

Thank you for all your help Patrick.

I have updated the documentation to make this more clear:
http://www.ap-i.net/skychart/en/documentation/pictures

Please update it if this is still not clear enough.

I also suggest you move your fits files from J:\SAC_FITS to J:\CDC_FITS\SAC and scan in J:\CDC_FITS .
This avoid it scan your whole J: disk for fits file and let space to put file for other catalog in the future.
