| Summary | 0000547: 3 problems under Win98 | ||||
| Description | 1) selecting "Setup>Display>Display>Photographic" gives an error message "Access violation". This happens only under Win98FE (1st edition), not under SE (2nd edition), and it may be related to the prolem I've already described in an other bug posting 2) selecting "Setup>All configuration options" gives a large empty window (with a red cross at the top). Clicking the 'Cancel' button exits Skychart, and clicking on the 'Ok' button crashes Skychart completely (doesn't react anymore and can only be closed via the taskmanager). This happens on both Win98 versions (FE and SE). 3) none of the 'Help' menu entries is working, selecting the help gives the following error message: Folder "C:\Programme\Ciel/doc/wiki_doc\en/documentation/start.html" not found! As you can see in this message there are backslashes (\) and slashes (/) completely mixed, so of course I don't wonder that Windows doesn't understand such a path (it should all be backslashes in Windows!). Also this bug happens on both Win98 versions (FE and SE). All three problems don't happen under Win2000, so I want to ask if it's intended at all to support Win98 at all!? If not then I just would stop reporting any bugs under Win98 ... | ||||

As I explain in the previous report I have difficulties to fix a problem I cannot reproduce. Win98 1st edition is a very rare best now, I only have a virtual machine with win98 SE. If someone with Win98 1st can install lazarus and fix the problem I am glade to include the patch. 1) my only solution for now is to hide this option if win98 is detected. 2) probably a problem with resources limitation, I test with my SE and eventually hide the option. 3) this one is easy to fix, I do the change. |

Quote: "1) my only solution for now is to hide this option if win98 is detected." Since it's ok in Win98SE, it's not a good idea to completely remove it for Win98. |
