====== Spectral Profile ====== When you use a spectrograph to image a spectrum it can be useful to quickly show the profile. This immediately give a better idea of what we get, and allow to check for a risk of saturation in some part of the spectra, specifically in emission lines. If the tool is not visible you can select it from the [[Display]] menu. By default it is located in the Focus tab when using a single column. {{:en:documentation:spectra1.png|}} Select if you want to show the average or maximum values, then press the button **Select area**.\\ Mark the horizontal area you want on the image by pressing the Shift key + Left button and move the mouse. You can quickly select a full width area with a double click at the spectra position. {{:en:documentation:spectra2.png|}} If required the scale is show in thousand ADU to save space. {{:en:documentation:spectra3.png|}} The profile can be opened in a separate window with a click on the button {{:en:documentation:pin.png?nolink|}} on the top right.\\ The scale is show in ADU and pixel position because this is totally uncalibrated. {{:en:documentation:spectra4.png|}} When you move the mouse over the graph it show the position and the spectra value, average or maximum, at this position. It is possible to zoom on a part of the spectra with the mouse left button and move the position with the right button.
