Description | Tonight I had many out of memory errors. It feels like the issue is going from bin 1x1 to bin 2x2 for autofocus back to 1x1. Though looking at the memory usage, ccdciel was below 1GB and it should be able to address 2GB in 32 bits. I make a lot of testing today to try to re-enable the SafeArrayDestroy call because I remark that memory reclaiming is more quick in this case. Finally I change the way to read the image, using SafeArrayAccessData instead of SafeArrayGetElement. In this case I can use SafeArrayDestroyData after SafeArrayUnaccessData without FPC raising an exception at the end of the procedure. Can you try with the version now in git. |

I can reproduce the problem in my 3GB virtual machine by setting the simulator image size to 10000x10000, up to now I tested with 5000x5000 that work. I continue testing ... |

Some more testing, it look like the ascom driver take a lot of memory because the array is 32bit internally. The simulator take at least two time this size when it copy the data, the qhy driver do probably the same. Tested with PHD2 Ascom camera I also get the out of memory error immediately. Without surprise if I compile ccdciel for 64bit it work without problem, too bad this is not an option for the qhy driver. Then I test with the image size set a bit smaller so the first capture work but the second crash. For this case I get an improvement by clearing the memory of the previous image before to get the new imagearray. I've played with it: taking darks, taking a preview, substracting the dark. Selecting substract dark from the preview in the preferences. Starting over many times. Yesterday it was crashing. Today is fine. |

Today I make more testing to try to reduce the memory fragmentation by not reducing the internal image size when the binning change from 1x1 to 2x2, to keep the memory allocated when the binning return to 1x1. But this not work well and in any case this lead to increased memory usage. As it work for you, I close the issue now. Thank you for your help. |
