Error 500 is a web server error on the MPC side. I just try now and it work, so it was probably a temporary problem with the web server. Can you try again and confirm if it work? |

I am able to reproduce this issue on Debian 9. It looks all attempts to connect with TLS/SSL are affected, like e.g. connecting to https://minorplanetcenter.net//iau/MPCORB/CometEls.txt. It seems the reason is the problem with establishing TLS connection with Qt 5 and OpenSSL 1.1, see https://forum.qt.io/topic/90788/error-creating-ssl-context-when-running-from-inside-qt-creator-on-ubuntu-18-04. |

If you get a message with "Error: 500" as the original issue here this is because of temporary problem with the MPC server. But I just try now and it work. If you get error about OpenSSL1.1 as the messages you linked this is because you use a old version of the program. OpenSSL 1.1 is supported by Skychart since April 2017. |

Indeed, v4.0 was affected but v4.2.1 is fine. |

Oh yes 4.0 was released in March 2017 and not include this fix. As I always use the last beta version I have the impression it was fixed for a longer time. Joan, as you reported to use the version 4.0, please install the last 4.2.1 and retry. |
