Summary | 0002264: Log planetary image sharpness in log when option (autofocus method =planetary) is selected
Description | After introducing the new autofocus method planet in the Stargazerslounge, a user came with an new idea: https://stargazerslounge.com/topic/346700-autofocus-for-moon-sun-and-planets-in-ccdciel-098%C3%9F/?do=findComment&comment=3770091 He considered the possibility to use the sharpness routine for manual focusing. I'm not sure this will be succesfull but is very easy to implement. Something like: if option ((autofocus='planet') and (focuser=nil)) then report sharpness in log after each exposure or something similar.

Yes this is a good idea. I make the "automatic hfd measurement" to show the sharpness when in Planet mode. But this is only show when capturing a sequence, maybe not the best for focusing manually. CCDciel already include a manual focus function that display the current value and plot the history. I also make it work in planet mode, see screenshot. https://github.com/pchev/ccdciel/commit/a2beeb319336d342b01d06fac8f32cc749b28fa8 |
