Summary | 0002287: request for Sound + pop up notification
Description | Hi, I know now CCDciel already had Email notification, but not every people like me use that so often. I do prefer sound or voice notification. Nowadays a lot of remote application does support sound/voice. It is good to have alarm sound from CCDciel when something goes wrong with imaging session rather than checking email. :) Hope to hear from you soon. Tom

Yes, this is a good option. I my idea the email notification is to use with a SMS gateway so it ring on the phone. But this is more for error in automated sequence that can justify to wake up on the middle of the night. Voice notification is of more use when you attend near the telescope, typically when the filter need to manually change. There can be many options for voice notification: - say the same message that was send by email, this is in case of major problem with a sequence. - say the text of every pause notification, used by the manual filter but also in case of minor problem with a sequence. - it can also be more verbose and say the change of target, plan step or even at each exposure. But it must also be totally quiet because there is case like star party when you must avoid any disturbance. Technically this is not a problem, I already implement voice in Cartes du Ciel Tour function and in my INDI Eqmod interface. |

Thanks a lot. Will wait for your full implementation. |

This is implemented and you can download a test version from: https://vega.ap-i.net/tmp/ccdciel/ On Linux you need to install the package espeak, for now I not add it to the requirement for the ccdciel package. Open the preferences at the Notification tab, select Voice configuration. Press the Test button to be sure it work on your computer, then select the case you want a voice notification. |
|
Finally, I can hear someone speaking. :) Thanks for the effort. |

Ok, I added espeak requirement in packages for the next version. On Windows it use the standard voice interface and this work fine. I cannot test on Mac but it must work as this is the same I already use for Skychart. |
