| Description | Simbad gives the following positions for PN K 4-8: 18 54 20.01 -08 47 33.3 (J2000) 18 51 36.13 -08 51 22.9 (B1950) See http://simbad.u-strasbg.fr/simbad/sim-id?Ident=PN+K+4-8&NbIdent=1&Radius=2&Radius.unit=arcmin&submit=submit+id And Kohoutek's original paper listing this object gives the following position for it: 18 51 36.1 -08 51 22 (B1950) See No 8 of Table 4 on page 3 of this PDF: http://cdsads.u-strasbg.fr/cgi-bin/nph-iarticle_query?1965BAICz..16..221K&data_type=PDF_HIGH&whole_paper=YES&type=PRINTER&filetype=.pdf However, the position for this object shown in Skychart, after enabling the Strasbourg-ESO Catalog of Galactic Planetary Nebulae, is this: 18 54 20.0 -08 53 32 (J2000) Notice that it is approximately six arcminutes too far south. So it appears to be an error in the original catalog, and the Skychart catalog is faithfully reproducing that error. Nevertheless, I think it would be good to fix this so the correct position is shown. | ||||

Yes, probably a typo, -08 57 22 instead of -08 51 22. There is another errata in the ftp directory: ftp://cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr/pub/cats/V/84/errata.txt I will correct that. |
