Summary0002249: Sky map not changing when increment time with Equatorial coordinates
Description    If Setup in Map, Coordinates "Équatorial coordinates"
    and Increment time steps 1hour

Sky map view is not rotating.

if click on « all Sky » Sky map rotates but at the same time chart settings changed to « Azimuthal coordinates » !
if select again "Equatorial coordinates" then sky map view is no more rotating with time increment.
If click on « Z » for azimutal view then incrementing time let’s the sky view rotate but coordinates setting changed to Azimutal again.

I would prefer to increment time and see sky movement while in Equatorial coordinates for our radiotelescope instrument is designed with an equatorial mount.

Bernard

Hi Bernard,

This is by design, the equatorial coordinate chart always keep the North on top and is not related to a specific location or time, the same as a paper atlas. This is not something I can change.

But you can add the meridian and horizon in the equatorial chart.
In Setup / Display / Lines , check "Always add meridian". When you increment the time you see this lines to move so you know where you are relative to the horizon.

Another way is to keep the chart in Alt/Az mode but to plot the equatorial grid instead. In the menu Chart / Lines,Grid , uncheck "Show coordinate grid" and check "Show equatorial grid". The equatorial grid make clear the direction the antenna will go when moved in RA or DEC.

Do this help?
