|Summary||0002356: Comet NEOWISE C/2020 f3 NOT at location indicated|
|Description||After downloading the latest comet info from within CCdciel the actual comet position is off by a few degrees. Makes it hard to find when using 2000mm telescope. All other stars & objects are dead on.|
|Tags||No tags attached.|
For me the position of the comet is exactly where it should be.
I just compare the position given by CdC and JPL Horizons for today 0h UT and the difference is a few arcsecond because of the heavy non gravitational force that affect this comet and CdC do not take them into account.
Please check the following:
- update the elements again to be sure there is not a glitch in the version you get.
- in menu Setup / Solar system, be sure Position is Topocentric, also be sure your observatory coordinates are set correctly.
- Be sure the computer time and time zone and the CdC time zone are set correctly. Check the UT value in every detail window is the right value.
If this not solve the issue please send me a zip with your file skychart.ini located in %LOCALAPPDATA%\skychart and also the last element file COMET-xxx.DAT located in the MPC subfolder.
