| Summary | 0002754: HiDPI Issues on Linux | ||||
| Description | Cartes Du Ciel 4.3 beta-4874-be319715 2024/07/29 04:00:49 Linux Mint 22 Wilma on Thinkpad T490 Cartes du Ciel: 4.3 beta-4847-be319715 2024/07/29 04:00:49 Gnu/Linux: Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.0 Wilma, x86_64 on Thinkpad T490 Internal Display: FullHD, 1920x1080 (HiDPI, Partial scaling: 125%) External Display: 2560x1440 (Normal DPI, 100%) First, CdC scales quite well on HiDPI displays. Well done. But there are some small issues and just some cosmetic ones. I use the old 3-side button bar view. Cosmetics: 1-4: Display issues on tables on Catalog, Finder Circle/Retangle, Grid spacing (Images 01-05 5: Text too big in "Details" Dialog box Minor issue: - Scrollbars are far to small - FOV degree buttons on the right button pane are so small that you cannot read it. At least I cannot. Bigger issue: 6: Big scaled text on skycharts when CDC is set up in HiDPI, saved, closed and after opened on a connected normal DPI monitor (docking station, notebook lid closed) | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | 1. Table display issues in all tables in: menu => Setup->Catalog (Image 01) 2. Same issue with tables in Setup->Display->Finder circle (02) 3. Same issue with tables in Setup->Display->Finder retangle (03) 4. Same issue with tables in Setup->Chart, coordinates-> Grid spacing (04) 5. If you select an object , right click and than click ABOUT the text size is far too big (05) - Open CdC in a HiDPI envoronement and look a the scrolllbars and the text of the FOV button on the right panel. 6. Setup CdC on HiDPI screens, save settings. Quit CdC. Connect a normal DPI monitor and start CdC on that screen. Lez the notebook lid closed.(06) I do not use my notebook with the internal display only. I use it with an docking station and a normal DPI monitor, too. I set up CdC on the internal HiDPI screen (undocked), saved the setting. Closed CdC and connected a normal DPI display via docking station. In the dock I started CdC in this environment. Than the text on the star chart is too big for the Normal DPI screen, by far (06). This is in fact the most annoying issue. Because you cannot really see the objects behind the huge text. It does not appear when the notebook lid/screen is open and running, setup correctly with 125% and the external with 100% scaling. But when I close the lid the problem reappears. | ||||

Thank you to report this issues. The point 1-5 must be fixed in today daily build you can try from https://vega.ap-i.net/tmp/skychart/ Can you confirm this points are now OK for you? About 6, the program do not try to adapt the size of the label on the map for the screen resolution. The size of this labels are set in Setup / Display / Labels and use as is. This is not an issue for most user that use a single screen resolution because this only need to setup once. In your case you may have to update this setup depending on the screen you run the program. Is this your issue? I am not sure I understand your explanation about the change caused by the lid open or closed. |
