| Summary | 0001526: Add a refresh rate cap | ||||
| Description | It would be nice to have a refresh rate cap in the performance/smoothness settings. Having VPA running more than 100 fps only waste resources. | ||||

VPA (and VMA) do not refresh continually the screen at this rate in normal use. Normally the screen is refreshed only when the map is updated, when you zoom or move on the planet. When you only look at the map the refresh rate is 0 fps. The program loop at the maximum fps only when you open the Setup tab to let you choose the good value for the "Smoothness" cursor. This smoothness value control the number of triangle faces used to make the planet sphere. The most important use of a high value is to reduce the artifact on the terminator line because of the flat nature of each triangle face. So if you observe a value of 100fps you can probably put the cursor a bit to the right to improve the terminator drawing. I can probably make the text labels in this Setup tab more explicit and improve the documentation: http://www.ap-i.net/avp/doc/EN_Doc_VPA.html#resolutioncursor |
