| Description | I have a major problem - for me at least, so I hope I'm using this forum correctly in reporting a Severity of 'Major' above. I have been using ASCOM connected Skychart, HEQ5Pro, Astrophotography Tool, ASCOM Focuser and PHD2 for nearly three years without a hitch. A problem appeared a few weeks ago which I have been trying to resolve. For brevity these are the checks I have done: 1. All software are the latest version. I am using EQDirect not the hand controller (that blew up a year or so ago!) 2. All software applications connect to ASCOM with out a problem 3. After a few mins - 5 - 10, a 'Telescope not connected' message appears as a Carte Du Ciel error. 4. All other devices remain connected 5. If I don't run Carte Du Ciel no errors appear and all other devices continue to work. 6. I can also start up Ascom from the Toolbox and connect everything - all work until CdCiel is connected then the message appears again. 7. The mount runs in sidereal etc and I can manually slew and also slew when CdCiel is connected before the connection drops 8. I have replaced the EQDirect cable, the power connection to the mount and checked power supply - which is a Lab Pack providing a smooth 12v output up to 8 amps 9. I have swapped out the laptop Apart from replacing the main control board on the mount (which seems an unlikely source of issues to me) I am at a loss what else to do net so any suggestions would be very very welcome. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | On my system I simply plug things in as I have always done and run Carte du Ciel first, connecting it to the scope and do an alignment followed by the other applications as required. | ||||

You can probably get more useful information from the Eqmod group. But this kind of issue are generally because of: power supply, USB cable or USB power saving on Windows. |

Hello, I saw the same issue but i use ascom device hub. I use it because multiple software are connected to the mount like Dave, every software is connected selecting the device hub but only Skychart has issue, the others still work correctly. CdC periodically poll the telescope driver to get the status and the position. During this process it can disconnect from the telescope in two case: - the driver report the telescope is physically disconnected. - the driver raise an exception when asking for the coordinates. In the second case it show a message with the text of the exception. Is there any message popup when this occur? I can add a message for the first case so we get more information about what is going. |

I make a change so it not force a disconnect when it receive an exception when asking for the coordinates, this can solve temporary error within the driver. https://github.com/pchev/skychart/commit/2f5d51a906b45bde1023b947f3e14477101a2159 Will be in next release. |
