Summary0002909: Connecting to telescope
DescriptionHi Patrick,
I use CCDciel to connect to Skychart and select the telescope interface to connect automatically to the mount on startup.
I have set up the default profile in CCDciel to run simulation devices to try out the various features of both CCDciel and Skychart.

I notice that if I switch profiles from simulation to my equipment the telescope no longer automatically connects and I have to manually select the correct mount (EQ6 in my case) from the simulator which is shown and vice versa.

This is really not a problem but I just wanted to know if that is how it is supposed to work or should it automatically change the telescope name to the selected mount in the device profile in CCDciel.

It is not an issue as it is easy to change but I would be grateful if you could clarify this.

The more and more I use your programs the more I love it so a big thank you for all your efforts and never ending support. It is very much appreciated.
Regards Rob
Steps To ReproduceIt happens every time the telescope mount in CCDciel device profile is changed from Telescope simulator to EQ6 mount and vice versa.

Hi Rob,

The Skychart configuration is totally independent of CCDciel, so it don't know you change the profile.
I also not want Skychart to connect to any available mount when the configured one is not present.

One possible solution is to configure Skychart to not always save it's configuration on exit, there is a checkbox to remove for that in the Setup menu.
Configure it to use the EQ6 and save the configuration manually from this menu.
Now it will always try the EQ6 on startup even if sometime you change it to the simulator for testing.

Hi Patrick,
Thanks for the explanation and quick reply.
I have set Skychart up as you suggest and will run it like that.
Again many thanks,
Rob

This is good to run it this way for observing because you are sure to always start with the same stable settings.
Just not forget to save from the menu when you want to keep a change, for example after adding a catalog.
