Summary0001434: Add Visibility for selected position to Calendar Window
DescriptionWhen you 'import' a position from a Virtual Observatory position via SAMP you can get to a position that is not currently visible. It would be useful to be able to check the visibility of this ( or any selected ) position.

This could be acheived by having an entry in the right click menu for the position which opens the Calendar window with an entry for the current position showing the same visibility information as shown for the planets.

Am additional feature could be to have a tab on the calendar page that allows you to see the visibility of a selected position or object. This would be similar to that required for the the first part of the feature with the automatic entry of the position from the right click.

In the current version there is a not very know feature to display the visibility of the currently selected object.

When your object is selected on the chart, by a click or by a SAMP selection, you can click the "Solar System Information" button, next to the Calendar button, to show the visibility graph for the object after the planet list.

I agree this is not the right place for this function, it is there only because this was the quickest way to add it the day I need it :)

The right place for this function is a new tab in the calendar as you describe, with both the graph and the rise/transit/set time values.
A selection box can allow to search for a new object, but the default object when you open this tab is the currently selected object.

Thanks Patrick for your reply. I did not realise that feature is available. One problem I have is that the positions I transfer via SAMP are often positions of transient events such as GRBs. As such there is no object at the position and it is not posible to get visibility of a position that does not have an object at that location. In general the ability not to be lock to a position rather than an object makes using CdC difficult for objects such as GRBs or indeed any other 'obscure' objects you might locate using the VO and transfer via SAMP.
