Summary0001475: JPL DE 430 file is not used
DescriptionI downloaded the JPL De 430 ephemeris file linux_p1550p2650.430 from ftp://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/pub/eph/planets/Linux/de430/ and saved it in the program's subdirectory data/jpleph but it does not seem to be used to compute planet positions. The only other file in the directory data/jpleph is the file from DE 405 for the years 2000 to 2050 which is shipped with the program Cartes du Ciel. When I set the date to the year 2100 in Cartes du Ciel it fell back to plan404 to calculate the planet positions.

My suspicion is that the ephemeris file is not used because it does not conform to the naming schema linx* or unx*. But the documentation does not say that one has to rename the downloaded files. On the jpl ftp server I can only download the file linux_p1550p2650.430 for the DE 430 ephemeris, i. e. one file for the whole time span.

This is fixed in the beta version by revision 2997 since August 2014.
I really need to make a new stable version soon, sorry for that.

You can install the beta version because it is good now and fix many other thing, or rename the file to what it was before jpl rename it: linkp1550p2650.430
