Description | SVN 3399 When DSS images are used and "Show deep sky object" icon is up (disabled feature), searching any deep sky object is not possible ("Not found" info is shown). Tried for M31, Orion... Clicking on "Show deep sky object" again (making feature enable), searching any deep sky object is possible. | ||||

This is done in purpose, see in Tf_main.GenericSearch() all the "if sc.cfgsc.shownebulae ..." or showstars. The goal was to exclude some object class from the search if you have similar object denomination in different catalog. For example if you type "1234" in the search bar it go to asteroid 1234. But you may have some catalog data with the same number for a star and by disabling the asteroid or the star display you get the object you want. Use the "advanced search" button and select "Deep sky object" to search for M31 with "Show deep sky object" disabled, it work here because you explicitly set the kind of object you search (star or asteroid in the above example). |
