| Summary | 0002743: VO Exoplanets Add-on doesn't seem to work as of later beta versions. | ||||
| Description | Perhaps this problem is a result of the exoplanet catalog website changing the internal format of their exoplanet catalog in VO format. When I follow the instructions, and import the exoplanet catalog, it seems to corrupt the starchart display, as every object I click on to obtain information seems to be of the same object (e.g., TOIxxx) instead of the actual object identification. I tried using both Aladin and TopCat to import the exoplanet data to the starchart program via SAMP. Maybe it is time to include exoplanets as part of the standard internal workings of the starchart software. One should be able to click on button to obtain and/or update a current list of exoplanets. This process should be transparent to the user - i.e. it should be a standard part of the starchart software, and not a procedural work-a-round for adding exoplanets. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | The steps involve following the standard procedure for adding exoplanets using Aladin or TopCat via SAMP connection. | ||||

I will look at the issue, but there is now an exoplanet catalog that can be installed in the program. For that install the last beta 4.3 available from https://sourceforge.net/projects/skychart/files/0-beta/ Then look at this page for the general information about the new way to install catalog: https://groups.io/g/skychart/topic/new_catalog_for_beta_version/103738483 The attached screenshot show the exoplanet catalog in the "specialized data" tab, click the "..." on the left to install. |

The problem with exoplanet.eu is fixed. You can install the fixed version from the daily build directory: https://vega.ap-i.net/tmp/skychart/ There was two point that make it fail: - a star with coordinates set to NaN. - RA coordinates units changed to degree instead of hour. I also update to documentation page to show the new exoplanet catalog installation method: https://www.ap-i.net/skychart/en/documentation/exoplanet |
