Summary0002843: Anchor button default
DescriptionUpgraded to the latest win-10 64 beta version to get accurate hyperbolic orbit positions for 3I yesterd. Much has changed!

The "anchor" button behavior is not as in all previous versions before. I enter an object in the search box and in all previous versions I have used, a long time passing, I was able to zoom with the mouse button and the object would stayed centered. Now the default is "anchor" off and when I zoom position centered is unknown and the just searched object is no longer centered.

Is there a way to set anchor default on again rather than me having to manually mouse click anchor on every object in my observing program?

Thanks.
Steps To ReproduceThis is a software behavior issue, no need to reproduce, it does this every new object I search for.

Yes many change in 6 years since last release :)

The Anchor button behavior is not changed, it was always unselected when a new object is searched, otherwise the chart will remain centered on the previously anchored object.

What change is the mouse wheel zoom behavior, previously it only change the zoom level but not the position. But I was asked to make a change so zooming with the wheel follow the position of the mouse cursor.
To get the old zoom behavior you need to press the Shift key when zooming with the wheel.

Maybe I can invert that, keep the position by default and follow the cursor with Shift ?

Can you confirm this do what you need when you press the Shift key.

I observe portable and each night I have a list of objects I want to observe. I search for the object, say, 3I/(ATLAS). I slew to the found object, do a plate solve and center the telescope with a small corrective slew. Now I track the offset "/Hr rate using PHD2 guiding. When the image is finished I then want to zoom CdC far in to compare stars in the chart to see if I can see 3I as an example.

I would much prefer if logic of the software would allow to default to "anchor" set to on when a search has been entered and an object returned.

No extra shift key to use mouse roller to zoom.

In the field observing portable mouse clicks and actions are best kept to a minimum!

Thanks for adding the PHD2 "/hr guiding rates and other similar improvements in the latest version.

I make a change so it work as in previous version.
You can install the version 4.3-4992 from https://vega.ap-i.net/pub/skychart/daily_build/

Now it is necessary to press the Shift key to make the zoom to follow the mouse cursor, this is inverted since previous 4.3 version.
I not want to add a real anchor after a search because it will be very annoying to not be able to move the chart a bit after a search.

Patrick, Thank you... works as before... appreciate the restore of behavior. Best regards.
