| Description | To calculate comets and asteroids user must manually enter configuration window and choose to download updated data (and, for asteroids, calculate data for the period). My suggestion is to create a script that runs as cronjob to automate the process: the script should run in background every week or so, download comets and asteroids data (removing data older than x months) and compute asteroids positions for adequate period (let's say starting from now minus 1 months and now plus 2/3 months). Aside of that I would suggest to update the default Jupiter GRS longitude in the program that is now several years old. | ||||

This is a good idea. I can also add the artificial satellites with the necessary options to select what to update. Also simultaneous write access to the same sqlite database by two program need to be tested. GRS longitude as been updated to January 31 position in revision 2839. It is normally updated the first time you run this version or a newer if the version of your skychart.ini file is less than 3.9g (this is normally the first row of skychart.ini). |

There is now a new main menu item : Update This cover the main thing that need updating. I keep this issue open to include a cronjob later. Main issue is to provide cross platform solution. Maybe limit the script to Linux and Mac. |
