Steps To Reproducejust repeat above.
Additional InformationProgram version installed:
indistarter-2.4.2/indistarter-2.4.2-220-indi-2.1.4-macos.dmg
I've tried reinstalling thinking there might be a corrupt file, but same errors generated.

Have I installed the correct version?
Is there an arm version available? I can't see one listed ?

This is the first time I have tried CCDceil / Indi starter (great looking programs by the way).
II am computer literate but not a software engineer.....
Cheers

Yes the DSLR Indi driver is broken in recent version of Indi for Mac.
This is why I provide a version of IndiStarter with Indi 2.0.7, this is the last version that work for other users of DSLR on Mac. This is indicated in the download page.
See https://sourceforge.net/projects/indistarter/files/indistarter-2.4.2/

If you want a real fix from the Indi team you need to install the last version of Kstars, repeat the connection problem with the DSLR in Ekos, open an issue with all the log at
https://github.com/indilib/indi-3rdparty/issues

I'll leave this topic open if there's anything new.

Hi Patrick
Thanks for the quick response. I've installed v2.0.7 and Canon camera connects and captures OK.
As you suggested I installed Stars and tried to reproduce the connection error in Kstars but both DSLR Indi drivers connected and seemed to connect and work OK.
Thanks again.

Hi Rob,

Can you confirm you install the last Kstars 3.7.8 and it work with your DSLR?
If this is the case I will look to update the Indi version in Indistarter next week.

Good Morning Patrick,

Yes it was KStars v3.7.8 I used, but I had only carried out a quick test.
However your reply made me carry out a more detailed test.

I am not familiar with Kstars nor indi so it took me a while to set up the information required by the driver. The indi_canon_ccd driver seems to work with my Canon 6D camera tho it does have some issues. I managed to connect ok, take preview images and run a couple of sequences and files were saved in both native crs and fits format. It does have some issues tho, It requires the sensor size info to be entered but it does not remember this. So next session you have to input this information again very annoying.

I then tried the indi_gphoto_ccd driver. It connected ok first time and I managed to take some preview images but it would not run a sequence not save any test images. I stopped the server and looked at the information required by the driver but when I tried to reconnect I could not do so getting messages of camera not connected and check power to camera. I tried to switch to the other driver but could not connect. Closing Ecos and kstars did not clear the issue, nor did physically disconnecting/reconnecting the camera. It required a restart of the Mac to clear the issue.
trying the indi_gphoto_ccd driver again the issue just repeated.

As I mentioned I am new to Kstars and indi and it could well be user error. I find the information required by the driver a bit complicated. So I would not make any changes based on my experience.
I am happy to do more testing but this is an issue with KStars and the indi driver not with IndiStarter.

Hope this is useful feedback.
Regards,
Rob

Hi Patrick,

I’ve been testing the Canon drivers again in Kstars (3.7.8) and they seem to be working. One of the issues I had was down to me not saving the files correctly and the other due to Kstars not stopping the server hanging the camera making it unavailable.

If you want to build up a version of IndiStarter with the latest canon/gphoto drivers I am happy to test it if you would like me to before releasing, please let me know.

Regards,
Rob

Hello Patrick,
The frustration I have been experiencing using the latest DSLR Canon indi drivers in stars are due to the usb port being hijacked by the Mac osx stopping the indi drivers from connecting. Now I realise how to work around this port issue I have not seen any problems.
I was using the latest build of Kstars (3.7.8) and I believe they are working OK, so could you please build a version of Indistarter with the latest canon drivers when time allows and I will test.
Many thanks
Rob

Hello Rob,

There is now a Kstars 3.7.9 that include INDI 2.1.5, the good news is I can connect my compact Sony camera, something that not worked for more than a year.

So I make a version of Indistarter with INDI 2.1.5 and it also work.
Can you try it : https://sourceforge.net/projects/indistarter/files/indistarter-2.4.2/

Hi Patrick,
Thank you so much for doing this, IndiStarter installed easily and connected straight away.

There is a difference between CCDciel and Kstars (3.7.8) tho and the image in CCDciel is upside down compared to Kstars, i.e. 180º out.
Is that an issue with the driver or the clients handling of the image?
I realise visually most of the time we look at the stars upside down so to speak but how does it affect how an image is processed when plate solved?
Regards,
Rob

It is possible there is different orientation depending if you get FITS or RAW from the Indi driver.
This is not an issue with plate solving that can manage any orientation.
You must be careful if you process images taken with different application, this is not a problem for the images themself because the alignment procedure take account of that, but this can be an issue if the calibration images are mixed.
