| Description | Using Sequence-> new and Import csv to pick the file, entire line appears in one column, even the commas. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | Created a target list using TOPCAT TAP query of SIMBAD, saved as CSV file. Imported to MS Excel as CSV Changed MAIN_ID to Name, added RA and Dec as sexagesimal. Saved as CSV CCDCiel -> Sequence -> new Insert rows -> Import CSV ... Picked the file. Failed to import into CCDCiel properly. All data, commas included appear in one column. To check, I Imported this file back into TOPCAT with no problem. | ||||
| Additional Information | As a professional, I create target lists with a number of professional program queries. The common format is CSV or VOT (Virtual Observatory Tables). We use the SAMP protocol to tie TOPCAT to Aladin with the DSS full color. Selecting the target in the TOPCAT cable positions Aladin against a picture of the sky. Working in the Southern hemisphere there are far too many stars for amateur planetarium programs to display -- however to disambiguate our targets from the background requires the stars. As a fall back, I will overlay the Gaia or SIMBAD catalogs where the little circles helps for blurred star situations for example two bright targets that overlap. I was trying to use the load local dss image for each target, cumbersome, to use as finders. | ||||

Currently it use the semicolon (;) for the field separator, not the coma. Is possible for you to save the CSV with a semicolon? Otherwise I need to add a prompt to select what to use. |

I make the change to allow to select the separator and string delimiter character when importing a CSV file. Now it must work with your file. To test, please install the version 0.9.96-4206 available from https://vega.ap-i.net/pub/ccdciel/daily_build/ Please tell me if this is OK this way. |
