Summary0000327: Sometimes comet simulation lines not drawn
DescriptionOn most occasions the comet simulation-lines are drawn as one could expect. In some situations the lines of *some* comets disappear entirely, only after shifting of the map by using the scroll bar.
Steps To ReproduceI 'm sorry. Quite a list to do before reproduction, and I know most of the steps are insignifficant in relation to this bug. I just want to make sure for the reproduction of this problem.
1. Click 'Configure the program' -> 'Solar System' -> 'Comet'.
2. Under "General Setting" make sure the box "Show comets on the chart" is checked.
3. Also in this window, set the value "Show Comets .. magnitude fainter than the stars" to 14. (Default was 4)
4. On top of this configuration window, click the tab 'Load MPC File'. Now, to make sure the latest Comet-information is available to CdC, click "download".
5. At the left of the configuration, click on "date/time". Set this to Y 2007, m 12, d 17; h 00, m 00, s 00. Uncheck the 'Use system time' and 'Auto-refresh every' checkboxes. And of course, keep the radiobutton 'AD' pushed.
6. Click at the left at 'time simulation'. Uncheck all checkboxes from the 'plot the position of moving object' pane, except the Comet-checkbox.
7. Make sure the checkbox 'Connection lines between each position" is checked.
8. Set the value for "Number of steps" to 40, and the value for "Every" to 7.
9. Click OK to close the configuration-window.
10. From the tool-bar under the menu-bar, there is a symbol to set the Field position and FOV. Set the center to RA 08h 14m 00s, DE -25d 00m 00s, set the FOV to 90 degrees. Keep rotation to '0'. Click OK to show our picture.

In the center we will find a line representing the movement of comet C/2007 W1 Boattini, running more or less from east to west. This line will dissapear completely when I click on the 'right' or 'top' arrows of the scrolbar. The other comets still are shown. Clicking the 'left' or 'down' arrows make it appear again.
Additional InformationI have seen this behaviour also with other comets, with other views/FOVs. I didn't check if similar behaviour exists with other solar system objects.

I could reproduce this on a laptop, which still is running the june 17 2007 snapshot.

This seems also to be the case with some asteroides. For example, it was pretty hard to make CdC draw a map of the flyby of '2007 TU24' from january 28 until january 30 2008.

This is because the first position at the first date go too far of the chart border.
For the comet it may be possible to compute all objects without this selection but this is not possible for the asteroids.
A possible solution: simulation for a specific object only specified on the time panel.
I prefer to delay this change to 3.0.1.8 to do that the right way.

Fixed by revision 1754:
http://svn.origo.ethz.ch/viewvc/skychart?view=rev&revision=1754

The program now always compute comets and asteroids if they are nearest than 0.3AU from Earth, independently of the position at 0h.
