| Summary | 0000363: ASCOM telescope V2 compliance for RA/DEC Slews | ||||
| Description | The ASCOM version 2 'Standard' requires that prior to performing slews to RA,DEC coords clinets must make sure tracking is set. If a V2 compliant telescope driver receives a command to slew and tracking is currently inactive it will return an error. Currently CDC does not check or set tracking prior to initiating slews and consequently all slew will fail and result in a warning pop up. Fortunately there appear to be very few ASCOM V2 compliant drivers out there and most will not complain. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | Install latest ASCOM Platform. Run CDC Connect to ASCOM telescope simulator Make sure tracking is set to off Perform a slew (warning box will appear) | ||||
| Additional Information | Although tracking would not normally be off it is quite possible following a scope unpark and as a consequence the first slew may result in this 'fault' condition. Practically this is not a big issue as CDC does provide a means to manually set tracking so on receiving the warning message the user can take appropriate action. However CDC could easily automatically set tracking as part of the slew procedure and avoid the 'warning' form being displayed - the user wants to slew after all. | ||||
