| Summary | 0000420: Occassionally CdC decides to continually automatically update | ||||
| Description | Even with the setting "auto-refresh" off, CdC will act like "auto-refresh" is on resulting in sluggish behaviour as it regularly updates at much less than the specified 60s auto-refresh default (or any other number that is attempted) - seems to refresh every 2 seconds or so. Once this has started there appears to be no way to turn this behaviour off short of exiting CdC and re-launching the application. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | Unable to clearly determine what causes the effect to occur nor to be able to regularly reproduce it. The effect has been noticed on a number of occasions. It could just be me... It may be associated with changing between coordinate systems specifically Alt-Az and EQ coupled with using the set-up catalog menu at some point? It may also be subject to how long CdC has been running, the effect is noticed after CdC has been operating for a while. There is no connection to the net and no computer control telescope attached. Programme is run as a charting and information tool. | ||||

I will build next Monday (January 5) snapshot to produce a more detailed trace of event. Please try with this version when available and post here the file My Documents\Cartes du Ciel\cdc_trace.txt |
|
|
Have downloaded the latest build file and installed, so far the behaviour has not yet happened. Will send details if it does the same thing as before. Seems the flipping problem with displaying neighbourhood objects is fixed - thanks! Same for the object view filter box always displaying 0 being fixed. |

Thank you for your confirmation for the two other bug. When adding the trace message for the refresh event I also review the possible reason for this problem. The most probable for me to reproduce this behavior is the following, tell me if this may be your case: - display a background image. - keep the image but zoom back to a wide field. - press the "blink picture" button, this start to continuously redraw the chart even if the image is no more visible. |

Have been using CdC off and on for a while now and do not notice the problem anymore. I am able to reproduce as you indicated via the "blink picture" button so suspect that must have been it. I probably clicked it at some point (missed some other button perhaps) and was not aware I had it on. Thanks. |
