Summary0000909: Skychart hangs when clicking at north pole (EQ chart)
DescriptionI were looking (playing) searching for the north pole nearest star.
Only to test I clicked on the small cross (the pole). Program hangs. It has to be stopped via task manager. Probably a division by zero error. Polar equations need a "zero/pole" test or - perhaps - a "please don't click here" advice near the cross :-)
Steps To ReproduceClick on pole when in EQ charting mode.

I cannot reproduce the problem, for me a click on the cross do nothing and the program continue to work.

Can you save a chart just before you get the problem (menu File/ Save as...), zip and upload the file here.

i attached a zip with a "washere" chart, a, "befireclick.png" and an "afterclick.png". As you can see in "afterclick":
1) program hangs
2) you become aware of it if you try to click elsewhere
3) task icon "doubles" itself. The second one is an "explorer" task.

I try with your file on a lot of computer and skychart version but I cannot reproduce the problem.
I even zoomed more on the Pole until the cursor position show a Dec of 90d00m00.0 without problem. I remember to put a long time ago the necessary protection to avoid to divide by cosine 90 :-)

As this solved another problem near the South Pole, can you try with the today 3.5-1976 version?

I still cannot reproduce the problem.
What you can do to find the cause of the crash is to run the debug version of the last beta.

Please install the 3.5 beta skychart-3.5-2051-windows.exe from http://www.ap-i.net/skychart/en/development_version
Then click the "debug" link on top of the page and replace the .exe files by the one on this zip :
bin-windows_i386-debug-2051.zip
Also download gdb_72_i386.exe from this page.

Follow the instruction at the bottom of the page to get the debug trace.
Make a zip with the debug trace and upload it here.

I cannot reproduce the problem neither.
The only thing I noticed is that in reporter's screenshot there were two instances of skychart running... maybe the crash was triggered from the other instance or by a combination of the two.

I also cannot reproduce this problem, neither at the North nor the South pole. I also tried with two instances of Cartes running.

CdC 3.5 svn2113 (x86), on Windows 7 x64.

OK, thank you for testing. I close this issue for now.

If someone can reproduce the problem please reopen and provide a gdb backtrace.
